Our personal tips for ice climbing in Rein in Taufers:

ICE CLIMBING ON THE “MILCHTRINKER ICE FALLS”

Reachable in only 5 minutes from the Rieserferner hut parking area are some of the best unfathomable ice climbing paths in the valley. You are situated in a sunny area and are protected in the compact ice. This ice climbing wall, with a difficulty of 4+ (30m Wl2) is also suitable for beginners.

ICE CLIMBING ON THE „FURTHEISFALL“

The „Furtheisfall“ is also reachable from the „Sage“ parking lot, by crossing the creek and heading in the direction of „Furthalm“, where the frozen waterfall is already visible. This ice climbing wall is one of the most popular routes in Rein in Taufers. During the climb and on parts of the route there is often much snow, allowing for many standing areas that are already drilled in, making climbing on the ice wall a lot easier. (Wl 3-4)

ICE CLIMBING ON THE “TRISTENBACHFALL”

You can get to the Tristenbachfall from the parking lot at the Jausen Station “Sage”, by crossing the wooden bridge of the creek and following along the left side of the creek for approx. 45 minutes. With three rope lengths and moderate difficulty (up to Wi 3+) the Tristenbachfall offers an excellent possibility for a multi rope length tour and climbing variety with breathtaking depth views.
