REIN IN TAUFERS

Rein in Taufers is a little mountain village in South Tyrol.

It is situated at 1,600 m above sea level, between the Zillertaler Alps and world-famous Dolomites. Surrounded by the Rieserferner-Ahrn national park, one can say that it is a part of untouched nature. The imposing mountains of the Reiserferner group with its 80 3000 m high peaks, are the emblem of the region. The Hausberg Hochgall at 3,436 m above seal level, is the highest mountain in the region. Without overexaggerating, one can say that the Rein in Taufers is an ideal spot for nature and mountain lovers alike.

“Rius” or “Rivus” – as it’s called in Latin for “river”, hence from this expression was born the name “Rein in Taufers”.

The roaring Reinbach River which flows past the village forms three impressive waterfalls in the Reinbach Gorge which can be reached with the Franziskusweg path which was inaugurated in 1985.
